Prop Plane Guide: Flying Wuhu Island and Finding Collectibles

The Prop Plane is not a competitive sport. It is how you see Wuhu Island from above, and it is the fastest way to scout for the collectibles that the other leisure sports make you chase on foot.

Controls

Flight is a hybrid of tilt and stick:

  • Tilt the controller to bank and pitch.
  • Stick for throttle and fine heading.
  • Camera can be adjusted independently, which is what makes the plane useful for spotting things.

The plane is forgiving. It does not stall easily and it recovers from a dive quickly, which makes it the right vehicle for a first pass over unfamiliar terrain.

What the plane is for

Three jobs, in order of usefulness:

  1. Scouting. Fly a slow circuit over the island and note where the collectible glints are.
  2. Challenges. The plane has its own challenge routes, which are flown rather than driven.
  3. Travel. Reaching the far side of the island by air takes a fraction of the time it takes by skateboard.

That first job is the reason to learn the plane early. A ten-minute flight over the island will reveal more about collectible placement than an hour of ground exploration.

Flying well enough

The plane rewards smooth input, not aggressive input:

  • Bank into turns early. Waiting until you are past the turn means a wide correction.
  • Use throttle for altitude, tilt for direction. Mixing them produces a wobble that makes spotting impossible.
  • Fly high to scout, low to confirm. A glint is easier to see from altitude; confirming what it is needs a low pass.

Because there is no crash penalty worth worrying about, the cost of a bad line is a few seconds.

The plane and the collectibles

Spocco Photos and Hibiscus Flowers are hidden across the island, and the plane is how you build a mental map of where they are before committing to a route. The three leisure sports cover different terrain: the plane covers everything, the skateboard covers the land routes, and the jet ski covers the water.

The efficient pattern is to scout by air, then collect by land and water, because the plane cannot pick anything up.

Challenges

The plane's challenge routes are timed flights through set courses. They are the most skill-demanding of the leisure challenges because they combine turning precision with altitude control, and they are the best practice for the tilt controls that the skateboard and jet ski also use.

What it does not do

The plane does not replace a competitive sport. It earns no Spocco Points worth mentioning, it does not appear in Island Crown, and it has no online component. Treat it as a tool and a change of pace, not as content to grind.

For the island layout itself, see the Wuhu Island map guide.
