All 12 Sports in Nintendo Switch Sports Resort
The full Nintendo Switch Sports Resort sports list: all 12 sports, the Jump Rope warm-up, the side modes, and which events are single-player only.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort ships with twelve sports, and the count is the first thing people ask about because the previous entry in the series launched with six and grew to eight. The number is bigger here, but the shape of the package matters just as much: nine of the twelve are competitive events you can play online, three are leisure activities built around touring Wuhu Island, and Jump Rope returns as a warm-up rather than a full event.
The sports list, in the order the game presents it
| # | Sport | Type | Online | Local players |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tennis | Competitive | Yes | Up to 4 |
| 2 | Bowling | Competitive | Yes (incl. 100 Pin) | Up to 4 |
| 3 | Archery | Competitive | Yes | Up to 4 |
| 4 | Boxing | Competitive | Yes | Up to 4 |
| 5 | Volleyball | Competitive | Yes | Up to 4 |
| 6 | Table Tennis | Competitive | Yes | Up to 4 |
| 7 | Basketball | Competitive | Yes | Up to 4 |
| 8 | Golf | Competitive | Yes | Up to 4 |
| 9 | Thumb Wrestling | Competitive | Yes | Up to 4 |
| 10 | Prop Plane | Leisure | No | 1 |
| 11 | Skateboarding | Leisure | No | 1 |
| 12 | Power Cruising | Leisure | No | Up to 4 |
Jump Rope sits outside the twelve as a warm-up: it is a timing exercise rather than a scored event, and it is the fastest way to confirm that your Joy-Con 2 pair is tracking properly before you commit to a match.
Competitive versus leisure
The nine competitive sports share a common structure. Each has a match format, a difficulty setting, an online queue, and a checklist of five achievements that feeds the customisation system. They are the sports that appear in Island Crown, the single-player ladder, and in Pro League, the ranked online mode.
The three leisure sports work differently. Prop Plane, Skateboarding and Power Cruising are how you move around the open-world version of Wuhu Island. They carry challenges rather than matches, they hide collectibles (Spocco Photos and Hibiscus Flowers), and they are where the island's geography actually matters. Power Cruising is the one leisure sport with a same-console multiplayer option, for up to four players.
If you want Spocco Points and outfits, play the nine competitive sports. If you want the island's secrets and the exclusive clothing tied to collectibles, you have to fly, skate and sail.
What is new compared with Wii Sports Resort
Three of the original eight Wii Sports Resort events do not come back: badminton, chambara and football. In their place the roster adds volleyball, basketball, thumb wrestling and a full golf mode alongside the returning tennis, bowling, archery, table tennis and boxing.
The bigger change is the island. Wii Sports Resort used Wuhu Island as a menu with a map on it. This game makes the island a place you can travel across, with the leisure sports as your transport. That is why the sports list reads like a resort programme rather than an arcade menu: the twelve events are the activities, and the island is the venue.
Bowling also carries a side mode that fans of the series asked for: 100 Pin Bowling, confirmed before launch and present in the final game. It is selectable from the bowling setup screen rather than being a separate entry on the sports list.
How many sports can you actually play online
Nine. Casual Online rotates the competitive sports and does not rank you, while Pro League is the ranked queue with skill-based matchmaking. The leisure sports stay offline, which is a deliberate design choice: they are exploration tools, and the collectibles they hide are single-player progress.
If you are counting players rather than sports, the same-console limit is four. Online, a friend lobby holds up to eight players with a maximum of two per console, and the widest online configurations run to sixteen players across consoles.
Which sport to start with
Tennis and bowling teach the motion tracking with the least room for confusion, and both are playable within a minute of booting the game. Archery is the best early test of the aiming model because the target gives you exact feedback. Thumb Wrestling is the smallest motion range in the game, which makes it the best sport for a short session and, as it happens, the best Spocco Points farm.
Leave golf and boxing until you have a feel for the swing timing. Both punish a rushed input far more than tennis does, and both are much easier once you stop trying to overpower the motion.
What the twelve sports add up to
Thirty to forty hours if you chase every achievement, every Spocco Photo and every Hibiscus Flower, and considerably less if you only want to see each sport once. The competitive nine are where the longevity sits, because Pro League gives the matches a reason to keep going after the Island Crown credits roll.
